We were just playing The Blue Album here at home when I remembered Neil Young played a fabulous cover version of A Day In The Life at Rock Werchter. He is one of the few artists that can pull this song off without doing it dishonour. Here's his version he played at a festival in Madrid, which is of better sound quality than the recording I could find from Werchter on YouTube :

It was only recently that Paul McCartney debuted it live and it was while Yoko Ono was watching. Very touching. Instead of finishing the song he just decides to switch to chanting Lennon's give peace a chance. Still impressive though:
